Where to Find Your RRSP Deduction Limit (CRA)

General information only. Not financial, tax or investment advice. This site is independent and is not the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Check canada.ca and your CRA My Account for your own figures. Short answer: CRA says your RRSP deduction limit is shown on your latest notice of assessment, notice of reassessment, or Form T1028 (Your RRSP, HBP, LLP or FHSA information), and you can view your RRSP information by signing in to your CRA account.

Steps

  1. Sign in to your CRA account (My Account) and open your RRSP information.
  2. Or locate your latest notice of assessment; it normally includes the limit for the following year.
  3. If you have neither, CRA says to contact it (see canada.ca).

Things to check

Over the limit?

You can exceed your limit by up to $2,000 without the 1% monthly tax (CRA, 2025 page). See the penalty explained.

FAQ

Can I trust a bank's room calculator? It's only as good as the inputs; CRA's figure is the one that counts.

What is a T1028? A CRA form showing your RRSP information when it is issued.
